The Last Post, For Now

Hello,

Nice to contact all of you once again. I have completed 50 sessions of our Christ Nagar memoirs, and I think I have covered the important events. So, I am thinking of stopping the session at this juncture. However, if any of you feel that more information is required about any particular part or event or as the case may be, I am ready to oblige if possible.

Good to see the wedding photos of Vinay and Bobby in our site. I am waiting to see the batchmeet photos of Feb 25 to be posted soon by those who have taken photos. All those who are in North India, wish you a happy HOLI. All of you, please keep in touch.

Yours sincerely,
Sundar Singh

Memoirs of Christ Nagar L

Hi everybody,

Nice to contact all of you once again. Still eagerly waiting to see the get-together photos. Renjith, send please.

Continuing with the memoirs session (the 50th session), today we shall remember the Talents day : It is a day when the students take over charge as teachers in Christ Nagar. It was there in all years of our schooling in Christ Nagar from the 5th to the 10th. It used to be on July 31st or August 1st each year. In the morning Assembly, the Principal hands over the golden key to
the Student Principal and student Vice Principal. The speech and further proceedings are by the Student Principal only. Then, the classes will be taken over by the student teachers. The real teachers will be behind them of course, and give marks to them the whole day. In the evening assembly, the best teachers are awarded, and the golden key is returned, another uniquity of our school. In our 10th Std, remember our student Principal Ramesh S, and the Student Vice Principal Sanju Mathew.

Yours sincerely,
Sundar Singh

Want to be a student teacher again? Nooo. Try to be a good teacher at least.

Memoirs of Christ Nagar XLIX

Hello all,

Nice to see the reports from the get together, and the new enthusiasm in Dinkar & Shibu. Hope to see the photos posted by Renjit soon. Moderator, kindly add the new mail IDs of Renjith Sanu and Siby P John that I sent in my previous mail.

Continuing with the memoirs session, today we shall remember our Sports & Arts Competitions : The school sports day used to be each year in or around February. There used to be athletics (100 & 200m dash, long jump, high jump and others), and games like basket ball, football, cricket & others (list incomplete). We had four houses named Olympics, Expo, Everest & Apollo. The toppers in each game or athletic, as well as the best house is awarded for sports. Remember the performance of our basket ball team and hand ball (Binu VV).

The Arts Competitions used to be in verbal forms and dance forms separately. Those who come on top are sent for the Youth Festival (Revenue Dist first, then to State), and given prizes. Remember the performance of Sandy TS and Suraj S of our batch in the Youth Festivals.

To continue in the coming sessions,

Memoirs of Christ Nagar XLVIII

Hi all,

I am so happy to see the memoirs arranged into blog (I didn't do, as I did not know how to make it). Congrats to Nitish. CONGRATS to NITISH MATHEW once again (Belated) on your marriage.

Continuing with the memoirs on the events of our batch, today we shall remember the School day celebrations: We used to have school day celebrations each year in the month of Feb or March. It was a function held on one day in the evening and night. There used to be a series of talks, including the Principal, Vice Principal, Innauguration by a renowned person, Presidential address (usually some film actor or a minister). There used to be a toast to the outgoing students by some junior, followed by a reply to the toast by a 10th Std student. These boring sessions were usually sandwiched by songs of various types. Later, there used to be dances of various kinds, skits & dramas etc. Prize distribution in various fields like General Proficiency &
Moral Science, Sports & Arts Competitions etc.

To continue in the coming sessions,

Yours sincerely,
Sundar Singh

Memoirs of Christ Nagar XLVII

Hi all,

HAPPY MARRIAGE WISHES to VINAY N SHENOY. Continuing with the memoirs session, today we shall remember the Onam celebrations :

We used to have an Onam Celebration each year on the last day of the first terminal examination (in some years), or on the very next day . We had it on all years except our 5th Std (when even the 1st term exam was incomplete). The most interesting feature was that many of us started wearing mundu or lunki for the first time in life in those days. Athapoovu competition was held between the batches in some of the years. It reflects the artistic talents many of us have. By afternoon, we all meet each other and disperse. Missing again (esp those who are staying out of Kerala)? Doesn't matter, keep missing.

To continue in the coming sessions,

Yours sincerely,
Sundar Singh

Memoirs of Christ Nagar XLVI

Hi everybody,

Nice to contact all of you once again. Contact me on 94465 78791 in Trivandrum. Continuing with the memoirs sessions, today we shall remember the X'mas Fete.

Every year, the day the school closes for Christmas vacation, we used to have this festival, another unique entity of our school. We had the same on all years except of course, the 5th Std (1987). Remember how we waited to receive a bag of eatables, usually with cake, orange, ladoo, banana and others before the occasion (once that day's exam is over). There used to be Christmas carols & other songs. Ballades and skits are usual attractions. A Christmas MESSAGE used to be given by a renowned person, usually a bishop (once Rev Susai Packiam, once Rev.Samuel Amritham) or a film actor or a minister. The most wanted attraction is the 'CHRIST NAGAR BEAUTY CONTEST'in which one from each batch dress like a girl, and come on stage. One of them used to be awarded prize. Another attraction is the LUCKY DIP in which each of us vie with each other to get a Christmas cake. Remember how we used to blow up the coupons after tearing them to pieces, once we come to know that we are among the unlucky ones. Another attraction was the arrival of the SANTA CLAUS from nowhere, and distribution of sweets associated. Usually, this is preceded by crackers, and other lightworks.

Missing your school, right? Want to study there again? Bu..t, no, you can't. At least send your children. ha ha ha..

To continue with other events in the coming sessions,

Yours sincerely,
Sundar Singh
